The original rock scene around here and securing a gig with an original act is like trying to win the lottery.
With Burning Abraham, we get shows, but the pay is usually based strictly on crowd draw, we are on a multiple bill which sometimes these other bands act as though it's a friggin' competition and overall more often do I find myself wanting to play to bigger audiences and just let loose and not care whether or not we screw up or not.
It is with this in mind that as of today I have decided to place ads in search of a female lead vocalist and either a male or female drummer and bass player to form what would ultimately become a gigging rock / radio friendly pop rock cover band that fills the void between the gigs with Burning Abraham.
Over here, there's more money in this, plus we can play anywhere and draw larger crowds all at the same time using this as a promotional outlet for Burning Abraham.
It should be pretty cool. Once formed, I expect to cover everything from the Stones to stuff from No Doubt, Gavin Mc Graw, Maroon 5....you name it, so this will be a big departure for me but one I am looking forward to doing.
In other news, I visited NYC yesterday. I went to Manny's, Sam Ash, and a couple of boutique shops. I really wanted to hit up Rudy's but they were closed. Geez 48th street and the music scene there sure has changed for the worse over the years and is only getting more scarce.
Well, gotta run! Hope your holiday weekend was memorable.
See Ya! Doug

Well, meaning when Burning Abraham is not gigging, which is actually quite alot I'll use the free time to make some money gigging with this cover band I'm going to form.
With Burning Abraham, we are lucky if we gig only once a month Skunk. Everything around here is all cover bands and that's primarily the circut and what it has been like the past 10 years plus here.

I heard about these wild amps that are apparently very flexible and thus great for the weekend warrior in a covers band. I think it was called a Vetta?
